Standing for right takes a lot of courage and conviction.
“Standing for right takes a lot of courage and conviction. And most of the time , you may find yourself standing alone .
In one of my recent travel , my flight was late by hour due to unavailability of the captain. We were on-board and waiting for the flight to take off. There was a group of men who started registering their complaints by passing a few loose but harmless comments. In a while, their comments turned a bit ugly and they started humiliating the crew.
I was quiet till it was harmless & funny. However I couldn’t curtail myself once it turned ugly. I stood up for the crew and tried to calm down the group.
Initially they tried dominating me as well but I didn’t budge. Eventually the argument settled.
I am sharing this story to represent a simple fact that how few people can exploit an environment just because we don’t take the right stand.
Even in this case, not a single person stood up. But it doesn’t matter as one stood up and turned the situation right.
Something to really introspect about ? Who do we want to be ? What do we stand for ?
Finally one member from the crew came up to me and thanked me . We all make mistakes and it’s important to register your complaints. But we should also practice empathy, compassion and sometime take it on our stride”.
